Good Friday Peace Pilgrimage (2014)

Good Friday Pilgrimage for Peace, organized by the Episcopal Peace Fellowship and joined by other ecumenical faith and activist groups, was held on Good Friday, April 18.  Participants assembled at Heifer International headquarters at 1:00 p.m. and walked past the Clinton Library to the River Market and across the pedestrian bridge to the Beacon of Peace & Hope, located in front of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum, 110 Riverfront Drive in North Little Rock.  Other individuals joined the Pilgrimage at the Beacon at 2:00 p.m. A Remembrance Service was held at that time consisting of prayers, brief reflections from scripture and literature, and a reading of the names of all homicide victims in Pulaski County during the past year.

The purpose of the Pilgrimage, according to organizers, was “to mourn the violence committed in our community and the world, and to walk together as active peacemakers.”
