Though many typical Christmas traditions are on pause, we will still be sharing in Holy Common-Union as we welcome the Christ Child into our midst. In the midst of it all, God is still coming. Here’s how we will celebrate Emmanuel, God-with-us, the Light that cannot be overcome by darkness, this year. Choose whichever offering(s) works best for your household.
5:30 PM: Parking Lot Service
Weather permitting, we will gather in the parking lot at the church house for a brief (15 minutes-ish), physically-distanced service. We’ll stand in front of our cars as we light candles, read part of the Gospel of John, and hear Silent Night. Masks are required and cars will be spaced out every other parking spot.
7:30 PM: Carols and Cheer
An informal Zoom gathering…think brunch tables, but before the service instead of after. Sip a festive beverage of your choice while we celebrate by singing a few Christmas songs and sharing stories and memories of years gone by. The link is in our newsletter, and you can stick around for the Christ-mass or go on your merry way.
8:00 PM: First Christ-mass
A Zoom service of Lessons and Carols followed by Eucharist, much like our typical Sunday morning gathering. Different readers will share their readings from personally meaningful locations and the music will be offered by both choirs. Link is in our newsletter (it’s also the same link as Carols and Cheer, so you can just stick around).
