Good News Money Project

Happy Easter! One way our church is celebrating the season of Easter this year is through the Good News Money Project.

What is the Good News Money Project?

Each person in our community has been entrusted with $50 to make Good News happen in your life and Be Church in the world. Ask God to guide your decision, and to pay attention to where you can joyfully spend this money to bring wholeness and liberation.

Some possible questions for your reflection:

  • Where do you see a need for new life?
  • What small act of love can bring hope and healing?
  • How can this money deepen your relationships with God, neighbor, creation, and self?

What’s the catch?

There are no terms, conditions, exclusions, or fine print. You can buy groceries for your own pantry if you need to. You can buy groceries for your neighbor. You can buy flowers and give them out on a street corner. You can donate it to a non-profit. You can match this money with your own. The only request is that you report back to the community how you used your Good News money. You can report your story anonymously if you’d like.

I wasn’t at worship on Easter – how do I get my money?

Good News Money will be available for you to pick up at the church house every Sunday morning in Easter (April 17 – May 29). If you can’t make it any of those Sundays, contact Rev. Elizabeth to find a different time to come by.

How do I share what I did with the money?

You can share your Good News Money Tale by clicking here or by filling out a paper form at the church house. Your story is due back by June 5, or the Day of Pentecost.

Where did this money come from?

When we received our Payroll Protection Program grant in 2020, we used that grant to pay our qualified payroll expenses. Your tithes and financial investment remained steady, which meant a portion of our budget was freed up to do other ministry. True to the spirit of this community, we decided to share those funds with those in need in God’s world. The Good News Money project is funded by the last of those remaining funds. Thanks be to God!
