Finding the Episcopal Church is the most wonderful thing to happen to me in my life. Being accepted
as I am and still being loved in a community of Christians is beyond words, and having that love in a
place like St. Michael’s is so special; I am grateful to God for providing such a family for me late in my
life. When I came to St. Michael’s, I had never heard the phrase “being the church.” As time passed,
and as I felt like I was a part of “being the church,” I then understood what Ed meant by that phrase.
Allowing anyone to enter our doors and be welcomed and to feel like they belong with us, even if for
only one service, is “being the church.” St. Michael’s is being God’s open door in Little Rock, and I have
never been given any gift in my life as precious as being a part of the church community and its work in
the world. If you are reading my words at this moment, and you are looking for warmth, support, and
acceptance in a church home, your search is complete. Come and see for yourself.
